Pavilion Tropical Conservatory

We are now chicken pox free hurrah! This afternoon we went down to the Tropical Conservatory which is in the gardens and looked at some fish.

Then on the way home they did some tree root climbing...

...and running in the complete opposite direction!

Playtime

While getting over his chicken pox Jake spent a lot of time playing with his trains - the concentration is incredible!

Chicken Pox - round two

Just as everyone had told me, two weeks (to the day!) after Noah developed the spots, Jake came down with them too and strangely they affected him in exactly the same way, down to how they were feeling on the same days of the illness!

Chicken Pox - round one

The inevitable has finally arrived - I think he did well to make it to 3 and 1/2 without getting it sooner, especially considering how often it goes round nursery.

He was okay on day 1 but 2, 3 and 4 he was very hot and lethargic and didn't want to move from the sofa.  By day 5 it was a like a switch, he was back to himself just very spotty. He did seem to be absolutely covered but never really complained about them being itchy. He was off nursery for a week and they quite happily took him back when I decided he was fine to go in! Not that they could really turn him away with another 7 kids in his room having just come back / gone off with it! I asked whether it was still okay to bring Jake in as it was pretty inevitable he would have caught it too, but quite rightly they said if he isn't showing any symptoms there's no reason to keep him off.

One down...

Jake's 2nd birthday party

Happy birthday Jake! We held his party on the bank holiday beforehand as that was when Nana and Grandad were here.

A very rare opportunity!

His cake was home-made by Nana and decorated by me - I think we outdid ourselves!

Jake certainly enjoyed it. Mum, Phil and Stewart also came round for the buffet lunch.

After lunch we headed down to the park where we fed the ducks...

Played in the trees...

And were swung in the air!

What more could a 2 year old ask for?

We love you so much Jake xxx
