Christmas Lights

It was late afternoon and the boys were hyper so it was suggested to take them round the corner to see some Christmas lights - I have to admit, I was pretty impressed myself!

Christmas light goals.

Boxing Day

We went to Instow for our Boxing Day walk with Nana and Grandad and had a really good time walking off the turkey from yesterday!

I think the boys favourite part was running through the sand dunes and jumping off them, they did that a lot too!

This is definitely how Boxing Day's should be spent!

Christmas Day

To be honest I didn't take that many photos..

But I couldn't resist Jake attempting to open a present with his lightsaber!!

Noah's Nativity

I outdid myself with Noah's costume this year. Shepherd: tea towel, pillow case, toy sheep, done.

This year the pre-school held the nativity at the Methodist Church and the parents sat around the children in a big circle. It was very cute.

Everyone was singing and in turns each child hung a decoration on the tree.

At the end of the show they all had a goody bag for their parents of things they had made. A calender, a Christmas card etc and they brought it out to you.

I was so proud, he did awesome!

Just because...

I was getting ready one morning and went in to check the boys and this is how I found them. It melted my heart and I had almost forgotten about the disastrous Christmas Train ride for a split second..!

Our Christmas Train Ride

A little tradition we began last year was to take the boys on a Christmas Steam Train. We went to a different one this year which departed from Rowsley and travelled to Matlock and back again and I'm not going to lie, but it was a disaster.

It seemed initially we were going to have the cabin to ourselves but shortly before we were due to depart a young boy (2), his Dad and his Grandad came and sat opposite us. Neither of our boys would sit down nicely, Jake kept standing up on the seat and trying to jump and Noah couldn't decide where he wanted to sit.

The next hurdle was the snacks, they both wanted more and kept begging even though I didn't have any more to give them! The worse episode was when Santa came round with presents. He gave Noah a tractor and a trailer and Jake... a book. This went down incredibly well as one can imagine. Jake kicked off because he wanted the tractor and Noah kicked off because it was his and he didn't want Jake to have it. This pretty much lasted the entirety of the journey.

Next up was the balloon woman. She came to the cabin and made both the boys a balloon sword. They then both insisted on attacking the guys who were sat opposite us, at first you can kind of laugh about it but they wouldn't stop pestering them. Then Noah's balloon popped and he was hysterical, thankfully I was able to holler the lady and she made him another sword.

I was quite thankful by the time we arrived back at the station but just to top it all off, Noah had given me his balloon to hold as it was really windy and he didn't want it to blow away unfortunately I was attempting to put the balloon in the boot of the car when as I was closing the boot it blew away!! Noah cried the whole way home.

Roll on next year..

The boys' Christmas tree

This year I was very much "we'll put the trees up two weeks before Christmas" - we lasted till 30 November. I already had a small tree which I used to have in our bedroom but very kindly gave it to the boys and swore to myself to be hands off and let them decorate how they want.

We went to Homebase and Noah picked out some decorations for it.. including blue tinsel! Jake was a lot more keen to decorate the tree, Noah was far more interested in what was on the TV.

The finished product:

They now have it in their bedroom with some colourful fairy lights finishing it off.

Nice work boys!

Clay Pigeon Shooting

The boys are still away (but coming home this afternoon) which worked out perfectly as we had booked a Clay Pigeon Shooting experience.

I had been to the same place once before and was off to an amazing start... it just deteriorated as we went on but I would like to blame the cold weather! Adam was pretty good the whole way through.

We were greeted with a hot drink and a sausage sandwich, we then went shooting then came back to the cosy lodge for another hot drink and a slice of cake.

We had a really good time and are certainly looking at doing it again.

Phil's birthday lunch

The following day Adam was back to work and I found myself to have a day completely on my own! Mum took a day's holiday and we went over to Chester to have a birthday lunch with Phil. It was an added bonus the Christmas Markets were there to.
